Hey Everyone -

So this week was a good one. We've been working with Veronica and the Alonso fam. It looks like they want to come to church and hopefully to general conference. I got to make some chicken wings for them but the sauce dated back till early April of this year but they said nahhh it doesnt matter. At least I didn't get sick haha!  I was a little nervous.

This week was really good though. I got to play some songs for the primary presentation and I played a surprise "God be with you till we meet again" after the whole meeting and the whole barrio sang for elder paz because he's going back home to Uruguay. This guy has taught me soo much and I was soo happy to do it for him.

There were also some other weird and scary things this week but everyday is a new day with Argentina!

This week I regained a testimony that God is always watching out for us. He loves every single one of his children and knows each one of us. He also knows exactly what we need and how much help we need. God is always wanting us to grow. We need to always know that hard times don't last, but our reactions to them can last for an eternity. Therefore it's suupppeeerrr important that we think and make the right decision before we've really done something that we'll regret.

God bless you all and hope you all have a great week.

Old Divorce Laws Still Prohibit Some Baptisms

Elder Houghton and Elder Chamberlain

Hey Everybody!

So this week was sad but still happy. Sad because we found out that those that had filed divorces using the old system would have to continue using that old system and those that hadn't made a file for a divorce could use the new system and have the divorce papers done within a couple months...It was kinda sad because it literally means that the Peña family can't use this new system at all and that they will have to continue waiting for years to get baptized..Also this is sad but still ok! The family that found us and wanted to be baptized live in the other elders area..Soo we had to give them over to them haha. They were super cool but we can't baptize them in our ward. I'm just glad they're all getting baptized ---that's what matters no?

Also we were able to make good progress with a lot of our investigators! The appt with Andrea and Tomas was awesome! We taught them and I got to teach them how to make some honey bbq wings after!  It was a lot of fun!  Also we got to teach Veronica and she's doing good! Later in the week we found her walking out of a small store and she had just gotten some injections. I didn't know why she was there and not in bed because she was suuupppperrr out of it. Ahaha like she was just mumbling in spanish and trying to say my name. Kower...Kowver. A lot of people when they ask for my real name struggle pronouncing it haha.

That's a quick view of what we did and what happened this week. Thank you for all of your prayers for my safety and well being too--- those are always nice ha! Much love to everyone have a great week!

(letter to his Dad)
Hey Popz!

Ya going up to the San Juan islands would be super cool. You know more than anything when I get back I'd love to go up to Lake Tahoe with all of you guys. That'd be really cool for me.

Ya this week was a good one! Our investigators are progressing! It's just if I leave at the end of this transfer in 3 weeks I won't be able to baptize them and someone will literally come in and baptize them. That's happened in all of my areas. But its whatever as long as they're baptized is what I try to say. Which it's true --I want them to be baptized more than me just wanting to baptize them.

Haha ya the other week I gave a family of 6 all blessings! Some for comfort and others health. I get to do that a lot. The other week for a couple of hermanas too. Sometimes more than I should because it seems that whenever someone is just sick they call the elders.. not even like any members that we do have in the ward but its just elders all the time!
Yesterday I got to play piano as always, give a 20 minute talk on the family, lead in the classes and teach the young mens class haha. We get to do a lot which is cool cuz we learn a lot but the goal is to get the wards self sufficient.  We try to teach and we end up doing a lot anyway.

Hey dad much love. You're an awesome example --thank you for always leading me in the right direction. Before I get off the computer,  I talked about you in my talk and how you(and mom) always helped the family do our prayers, read scriptures, and do the things that the Lord has asked us to do. Thanks for always doing those things with us.

Love your son,

Elder Chamberlain

Um . . . Kisses for Elder Chamberlain?

Hey Everybody -

So this week was super good!! We taught a lot of people and we're preparing to baptize a 9 year old girl named Oriana! Her mom is an ex missionary that has fallen away from the church and she is coming back again cuz her daughter is super into the church. It's cool every time we come over to visit she's the one asking us if we want something to drink or some food or something. SHes such a sweet little girl haha! We're also teaching the Chavez family and tonight were going to have a family night with them so that should be cool! We're going to talk about charity and the pure love of Christ and the blessings from choosing the right and we have some fun games that were going to play after!

This week-- man, I had 2 guys give me besos(kisses)!!   Everybody in Argentina is suuuper lovey dovey--- I don't know...it's weird haha. I've only had one nice old lady give me one too. But this guy was literally like "kiss me on the cheek here. . . here!" Oh man I never felt so weird in my life! This guy was super dirty working on his car with black oil all over him and he had a TON of facial hair...ya that was something I won't forget ahaha....

Wow so yesterday after church my comp and I had a lunch appt with our Ward Mission Leader. We had pastel de papas which is basically shepherds pie and it's super good. Buutttt The other elders in our dorm were going to this huge fiesta with an asado an empinadas and A LOT of other food... I was soo mad but literally after our lunch they called us and said " hey the food still isn't done so you guys can come over! Oh man I was sooo excited! We went over there and there was a ton of people with all this meat in the backyard being smoked in this big brick oven pit. I was asked to say the prayer and everyone thought I did super good which made me feel good haha. We ate a bunch of food and then they had a cake for Orianas grandma! She's 80 and she's the nicest lady! She feeds us alot haha and literally loves us!  After everyone brought out the cerevezas/beer and we all played pool.(Obviously we didn't drink either) Ya they destroyed the missionaries haha but it was all good! I just felt bad that I lost to a bunch of drunk argentinians in pool. But it's whatevs.

I love the photos thxx!!  Sounds like you had a great week with Grandma and Grandpa!

So in church yesterday I got to play 6 songs from the childrens hymn book for the entire primary which was about 15 or less kids! It was sooo cool! We practiced during the week and we had a ton of fun!

I played these primary songs..I can't remember in English and I don't have time to translate it all haha:

el plan de dios puedo seguir

el bautismo

mando a su hijo

vivo en los cielo

el padre celestial me ama( That was my favvvv)

Las familias puedan ser eternas...that was super cool cuz then the whole congregation joined in on the second verse! The sprit was super strong!!

Anyway ya overall the week was super good and we're doing really good things--- I can't wait! Hope you guys are all doing good---- love you all!

Murky Water Baptism

Here is a quick pic from the MTC I forgot to send you:

So, remember Bro. Monson,  President Monson's nephew?  My FAVORITE MTC leader ever!!!    He is such a cool guy!  We had a lot of talks together and he helped me so much.  I love this guy!

A quick look at the Buenos Aires Temple the day I got there.  So pretty!
This is me at the baptism.  I played the piano for Carri and her family.
So this week was super awesome!! Carri got baptized and we're talking to some of her friends right now with their families. We'll have a SUPER busy week so that's good.

My comp and I had a lot of trouble with the baptismal font though! There wasn't any working water and so we had to go get a bunch of water from this well. It wasn't like an actual old looking well but we had to drop in these buckets in this square opening in the ground and get water. It was pretty dirty. Then the water started to work again from the spout and it was even more dirty so we just turned it off. The water wasn't super bad but it was a little murky. Actually, it was pretty bad to be honest. But we prayed that she wouldn't think about it and that is exactly what happened. She didn't even care. She just walked right in the water.

Her mom was sooo happy for her and was crying. After the baptism I fulfilled my promise and played some piano for Carri in the chapel and we went to go have dinner at their house. We had pizza, or bread with plastic cheese on top haha. But we were hungry so we honestly didn't care and it's all they had so we humbly took it. (as we always do with others)

The people are soo awesome! We heard another gunfight but it was actually super cool! It was on the far side of Campo Papa and they had soo many legit police/swat trucks heading towards the edges of Campo Papa. So that was cool to watch. We didn't actually see the fighting though, just the noises. Mom I'm fine though--- God is protecting us and it was far away:) It's ALL GOOD.

I'm learning the language a lot still and my dorm buddies are helping me soo much. I still have trouble talking to the people but I've just memorized a couple funny phrases to say when I don't know what to say. Most of the time I just bear my testimony about what were teaching and its good. We're taught that when in doubt, Testify!   I've also been taught by that from Brother Mask too! He also served In Buenos Aires--- So its obviously good stuff :)

I hope all is well and your calling is doing super good!  I'm soo happy up here and everything has been going so good. I'm working out a lot, eating a lot of eggs and protein and what not, learning alot and the language is becoming easier everyday. Hence, it's still  very hard but it is becoming easier!  The Lord is good and truly takes care of his missionaries!

How's your calling going!? What lesson did you teach yesterday?

I didn't play piano this Sunday but I will the next! I love to play soo much and thank you for putting those books and all of those things together for me mom! I'll definitely use those in the future! I'm reading a lot and I'm sooo grateful too for Dad's how to win friends and influence people papers that he wrote up! They are soo useful and helping me a lot!

BYU 41-7 with Texas??? Again?  Last year it was something bad like that too! That's gotta make you and Dad feel pretty good right? haha

Thank you for the pics too mom! I actually thought about the moon too and how you're looking at it too my first couple weeks of being here.

Time is going by sooo fast mom! I'm already a month in the field  which is actually really cool and I've learned sooo much! I'm also a way better cleaner because I've had to clean some pretty nasty stuff in our pench(apartment) and for others!!  I love the people and they're all sooo nice to me!

I love you ma! Thanks for ALL you do!  Know I'm safe and I literally have the best most pelligroso comapanion with me! I'll send the photos soon!

Everything is good here and I hope everything is good there! I miss and love you all soo much --But the blessings are soo good that I'm receiving from being out here and I can't thank my God enough for them. Love you all!

Love your son,

Elder Kohler Chamberlain

For my birthday, this nice family made me a cake!
My crazy comp threw confetti all over me for my bday.  He is super cool!
Me outside the church grounds

Excerpt from a letter to Kelsey:
Kelsey my fav hermana!

I told my comp ( no matter how scary he is, ha ha) that I will write my fam and everybody I need to no matter the time. This is missionary work in another form so it's no big deal;)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE to teach about the family. How through Our God, Heavenly Father, we can all live together as one big family in Heaven. I have a super strong testimony of the family and so many people don't know about that. It always takes people off guard when they hear that they can spend an eternity with their sweetheart and children. Its pretty cool...:)

Letter to Dad:
This is soo awesome to hear! When I pray for you too I always pray for your biz and your staff!  That's sooo awesome that he's learning more about this gospel! You and I both know soo much that this will change his life forever! I didn't realize how much God blesses you for when you did missionary work.. and I don't know about you but I'm sooo happy right now!

I'm working out a ton and every monday tues thurs and Friday I run with my comp now! Our apartment complez is completely surrounded by gate and barbed wire though so we just run on the inside. Not like its dangerous outside but its always better.

Man things are going super good dad! I'm learning sooo many things that I know will help me with things later in life!! Especially with what I want to do! God is blessing me in sooo many ways and I can't thank him enough!

I have a strong testimony that when we do missionary work we receive soo many blessings that we literally can't count them.  A lot of people say that and you just think...Oh blessings...like little things or things that aren't really that important or significant. You receive sooo many blessings and especially those of your own desires! If it be expedient and righteous unto God which most of the time it is then you'll receive it based on your FAITH! I know you have faith and always know that I have faith in you and what you're doing! So proud of you Dad.

Much love to you and everybody else! Miss you all like crazy!

MTC Week #3 Pictures!

(These are some really fun pictures Elder Chamberlain sent us on Saturday but we were traveling so I wasn't able to load them on to the blog until today.  His letter is under the Saturday, July 26, 2014 entry.)

Kohler wrote, "Mom this is a photo I took today of that same area you guys were at! (we sent him some photos of us by the same sign) I pass that same spot with the long yellow fence when I run every morning! If you came by mid day on Sunday I might have been at the cafeteria which is right by those white bubbles which are the basketball courts and the workout room (it's very small, ha ha!)  My classrooms are all over there too across that street that you took the pic of the elders running.

(These are the pics Elder C. is referring to!)
This grass is where we all watched the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire on the 4th of July!
"Me and ma boys at the bus stop ha ha!"
"Sometimes on P-Days we like to move our beds into this small family room!"
"Elder Christensen isn't having a good day today- ha ha. . ."
"For Elder Christensen's birthday he got 7 packages and 22 letters!  Apparently this is a record for our whole zone!"
"Elder Mangum getting a little mad at the keyboard ha ha"

"Elder Mangum and I waiting for a REAL piano!"
